The Importance Of Running A Positive Campaign
Updated: Oct 18, 2022
I have run a positive campaign based on my ideas on how we can make Solana Beach a more vibrant, inclusive place for everyone. Unfortunately my opponent, Kristi Becker, has not only decided to go negative but she is spreading outright falsehoods about my priorities and ideas for the future of Solana Beach. She has also declined to participate in the traditional candidate forum to which she had already committed. Our community deserves the truth, and honest representation. Iām here to set the record straight:
I support City Council and resident review of development projects. In fact, I support more community engagement and increased transparency.
I believe views should be protected and honor the View Ordinance. I had previously covered this topic in my Fact vs Fiction section of the website, but you can read more about that in my position on housing in Solana Beach
I am not advocating for major increases to housing density. Providing attainable housing options to our community is one of my priorities, and I went into great detail previously about how SB9 (the stateās subdivision law) really isnāt so controversial.
I support sufficient parking. Fiscal responsibilities is one of my top priorities, and I believe City council should act in the best interest of its residents by supporting local stores, restaurants, and small businesses who provide critical tax revenue. That includes providing sufficient parking, bike, and walk resources to all residents to support a thriving local economy.
My ONLY special interests are the people of Solana Beach.
By declining to participate in a candidate forum, Becker has deprived Solana Beach voters of the opportunity to make a fully-informed decision about their local candidates for District 2. Can we trust our cityās future to someone who refuses to debate key issues, balks at the opportunity to engage our community, and doesnāt take this elected responsibility seriously?
